BROOKLYN

The Louisiana Film Society in association with The Louisiana International Film Festival, Fox Searchlight Films and Cinemark Theatres are proud to present a special screening of one of the years most exciting and critically acclaimed new films, BROOKLYN. Set between New York and Ireland, BROOKLYN tells the profoundly moving story of Eilis Lacey (the incredible Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother’s home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. The film is directed by John Crowley and written by one of England’s most celebrated writers, Nick Hornby (An Education, About A Boy and High Fidelity). It also stars Domhnall Gleeson (Ex-Machina) and Julie Walters (Educating Rita).

Join us and fall under the spell of the years most intoxicating love story, Brooklyn. As we are expecting a large turn out, reservations are highly recommended well in advance. One guest only, please.
